Veteran comedian Paul Rodriguez has been arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession, authorities confirm. The arrest of the celebrated entertainer took place in Burbank, California, marking a serious legal development for the well-known personality.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

The Burbank Police Department reported the apprehension of the stand-up comedian on Friday, March 28, in Burbank. According to official statements, the arrest occurred after a vehicle stop; Rodriguez was a passenger in the car at the time of the incident.

Burbank law enforcement officials stated that at approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 28, 2025, officers initiated a vehicle stop due to alleged traffic infractions. Rodriguez was a passenger in the vehicle. Police reports indicate that “narcotics were discovered during the subsequent inquiry. Mr. Rodriguez was taken into custody and processed at the Burbank Police Jail for narcotics possession.”

Rodriguez was subsequently released with a citation to appear in court on April 25, 2025.

Lawyer Denies Charges, Cites Civil Rights Violation

Through a statement issued to news outlets, Rodriguez’s legal counsel refuted the accusations against the “Born in East L.A.” actor, asserting that the charges are “without merit.”

Bobby Samini, Rodriguez’s attorney, declared in a statement that “the charges against Paul Rodriguez are baseless and without foundation.”

Samini elaborated, stating, “Mr. Rodriguez was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the Burbank Police Department. He cooperated fully with law enforcement throughout the encounter.”

“Law enforcement alleged the vehicle’s driver was in possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Rodriguez did not possess any illegal substances, nor was he under the influence.”

Samini further contended, “Mr. Rodriguez’s arrest and handling constituted a violation of his civil rights. We are committed to demonstrating Mr. Rodriguez’s innocence in a court of law.”
