Strictly Star Reveals Dramatic Weight Loss During Dance Competition
A participant on the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing disclosed that she shed “two dress sizes” while competing on the BBC program. The 39-year-old celebrity was eliminated in week ten after facing the dance-off for the third consecutive week. Ultimately, comedian Chris McCausland and his professional partner Dianne Buswell were crowned winners after weeks of intense dance competition. The series also made headlines when DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles withdrew early due to a knee injury.
Speaking exclusively to Express Online, the television personality shared details of her significant weight loss within the first four weeks of the BBC dance competition.
Intense Training Regime Leads to Weight Reduction
Gladiators star Montell Douglas explained the demanding nature of the show, stating: “Eight hours of training, literally eight hours of dance every day, burning around 4000 calories daily. It was unbelievable. I would have needed a calorie surplus just to maintain my weight. Yes, I lost one and a half stone in the initial four weeks of the show.”
“I dropped two dress sizes exceptionally quickly. When I attended events, I was surprised when my clothes no longer fit, realizing I was no longer a size 12. It was astonishing. I hadn’t seen my body like that since my twenties.”
“My usual training involved two to three-hour blocks, but the constant calorie expenditure, day after day for 11 weeks with no breaks, was different. Despite the weight loss, I still felt remarkably strong. My Gladiators colleagues commented, ‘Oh my gosh, you look so lean.'”
Promoting Health and Wellbeing with Holland & Barrett
Recently, Montell has collaborated with health food retailer Holland & Barrett to advocate for maintaining strength throughout life. New data from the company indicates that joint, bone, and muscle discomfort affects 65 percent of Britons, with 40 percent reporting it impacts their work and 26 percent their self-assurance.
Emphasis on Movement and Expert Advice
Discussing her involvement in the campaign, she said: “Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about the importance of movement, from childhood into my approaching 40s and personal reinvention. Holland & Barrett encourages individuals to seek appropriate guidance, improve their movement, and ensure swift recovery. They offer free 15-minute consultations for expert advice.”
“It’s about incorporating movement into your life – whether it’s dog walking, attending a dance class, or any activity, not just gym workouts.”
Holland & Barrett’s Perspective on Active Lifestyle
Emily Foster, Nutritionist at Holland & Barrett, commented: “We are seeing an increasing number of customers seeking to prioritize their well-being, potentially inspired by recent television programs. Crucially, we want everyone to continue enjoying activities they love, from dancing and dog walking to participating in half marathons; everyone’s journey with movement is unique.”
“There are numerous ways to support joints, bones, and muscles at every life stage to maintain optimal well-being. Good nutrition and healthy habits are vital throughout life, not only in response to injury.”
