Cara Jade Myers Reflects on “Killers of the Flower Moon” Experience
Actress Cara Jade Myers is reminiscing about her involvement in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the acclaimed western thriller directed by Martin Scorsese.
Myers, aged 39, featured in the widely praised 2023 film alongside Hollywood luminaries Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.
Filming of the western/thriller, helmed by Scorsese, occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, limiting in-person interaction with the prominent actors.
Limited Interaction on Set Due to COVID Protocols
“I wish I could have engaged with them more directly. I attempted to, but production took place during COVID,” Myers revealed to The Post at the premiere of her new western, “Day of Reckoning.”
“Unless you were actively filming a scene, they enforced distancing protocols,” she explained. “But in all seriousness, it was truly extraordinary to collaborate with icons like Leo, Bob, and Marty. The opportunity to be on set with such legendary figures was incredible, and I am immensely grateful for the experience.”
She added, “[I] also felt the need to maintain professionalism. I needed to be competent and composed!”
“Killers of the Flower Moon”: An Oscar-Nominated Film Based on True Events
“Killers of the Flower Moon,” which garnered 10 Academy Award nominations, is an adaptation of David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction book of the same title.
The historical drama meticulously portrays the investigation into the murders of numerous Osage Nation members in 1920s Oklahoma. The cast also included Lily Gladstone, Brendan Fraser, and Jesse Plemons.
Leonardo DiCaprio, 50, described the events depicted in the film to British Vogue in 2023 as “a completely overlooked chapter in American history, and a lingering wound that remains unresolved.”
Myers’ New Role in “Day of Reckoning”
Currently, Myers stars in “Day of Reckoning,” an action film directed by Shaun Silva.
According to IMDb, the movie follows “a struggling sheriff (Zach Roerig) who partners with a tough US Marshal (Billy Zane) to apprehend a resourceful female outlaw (Myers). As tensions escalate within their group, they must confront a pursuing gang led by the outlaw’s violent spouse.”
Embracing the Western Genre and Strong Female Roles
Myers affirmed her enthusiasm for the genre, stating she “definitely has been” a fan.
“Especially when it features empowered women, and I have the opportunity to portray them, to overcome adversaries, and to take control of situations. That’s incredibly appealing,” she expressed.
Upcoming Projects and Desire for Comedy Roles
Myers is also slated to appear in the forthcoming American thriller “Ice Fall.”
“We filmed it last year in Bulgaria,” she informed The Post. “I’m very excited about it because it’s an action movie with Joel Kinnaman where we are evading antagonists. It promises to be a thrilling experience. Ironically, despite its title ‘Ice Fall,’ we encountered intense heat for most of the filming, except for one cold day!”
Despite securing leading roles in dramatic projects, Myers revealed her aspiration to explore comedy.
“I adore comedy, and I enjoy being playful, so I am hoping that comedy is the next avenue I pursue,” she admitted.
Aspiring to Portray Unsung Native American Historical Figures
Myers’ “Day of Reckoning” co-star, Billy Zane, recently depicted Marlon Brando in “Waltzing With Brando,” prompting the actress to consider historical roles she would be passionate about portraying.
“Candidly, I would love to embody a lesser-known Native American woman who played a pivotal role in history. Bringing her story to light would be a fulfilling and engaging project.”
