Reports indicate that Francis Bourgeois, a prominent TikTok sensation and train enthusiast, is being considered as the potential new host. Bourgeois, known for his viral trainspotting videos and substantial online following – which reportedly includes Prince William and Kate Middleton – is viewed as a strong candidate to join May and Hammond. This development follows Richard Hammond and James May’s recent surprise return to the Top Gear set, marking ten years since they last filmed at the studio.

An insider told The Sun, “Francis is a major online personality, and Amazon executives are keen to introduce him to a mainstream audience. He is admired broadly, from royals to musicians, and is expected to resonate with Grand Tour viewers. Beyond his social media presence, Francis is also a trained mechanical engineer, showcasing his technical expertise.” Francis Bourgeois, whose real name is Luke Magnus Nicolson, has amassed a significant online presence with 2.4 million followers on Instagram and 3.3 million on TikTok.

The publication further reports that Francis Bourgeois was invited by Palace officials in 2023 to meet with the Prince and Princess of Wales during their trip on London’s Elizabeth line. The Not Very Grand Tour is being developed under the guidance of director Phil Churchward, who has a history working on both Top Gear and The Grand Tour. The Not Very Grand Tour is anticipated to be a comedic documentary series, featuring the hosts humorously revisiting classic moments from previous seasons of The Grand Tour. The release plan includes an initial episode next month on Friday, April 18th, with the subsequent three episodes to be released throughout the remainder of the year and into 2026.
