Comedian Luenell Issues Apology to Pete Davidson Following On-Air Interaction
Comedienne Luenell has apologized to Pete Davidson after an interaction during their joint appearance on Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney on Netflix was perceived as making Davidson “uncomfortable.” The incident, which occurred during a live segment of the show hosted by John Mulaney, prompted a response from Luenell, clarifying her intentions and expressing regret for any discomfort caused to the former Saturday Night Live star.
Through a representative, Luenell stated to People on Friday, March 28, that she “by no means” intended to make Mr. Davidson feel uneasy during their appearance on Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney. “She was simply being playful,” the statement clarified.
In the statement, Luenell admitted, “I confess, I was tickling Pete’s leg during a portion of Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney; however, it was not my intention to create any discomfort for Pete. I offer my sincere apologies. It was all intended as a jest. I hope Pete will pardon me, and I remain open to a date with him should he desire. And I assure him, I will refrain from touching him again unless he explicitly wishes me to!”
The incident unfolded during the Wednesday, March 26, live broadcast of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney streaming on Netflix. Both Davidson and Luenell were blindfolded during a segment when she reached up his leg.

According to a source who spoke with People, “The entire set atmosphere was awkward” due to the interaction. “It was genuinely inappropriate, but John Mulaney intervened and maintained the flow of the show. Pete cooperated in the moment as he wished to avoid disrupting the live broadcast.”
The source further added, “There is a perception among people that they can treat Pete differently and regard him as an easy target for such ‘jokes’ based on their preconceived notions of him. However, it was simply wrong and highlights an unfortunate double standard. Viewers overwhelmingly concurred and immediately recognized the inappropriateness.”
The conversation between the pair began amicably when Luenell inquired with Davidson, 31, about his romantic life, which he appeared not to mind.
“I informed Pete backstage that I wished to discuss something with him,” she explained. “We have encountered each other approximately four or five times now, and we consistently have a pleasant experience. … You are just a regular person, an average guy, yet you consistently attract all these gorgeous women, correct?”

“I don’t recall seeing you with any women of color, perhaps as romantic partners. I may be mistaken,” she remarked, alluding to romantic relationships with Black women. “Since I don’t comprehend it, I am seeking to understand the allure. You have been linked to Kim Kardashian and several other notable figures. Currently, you are involved with a certain supermodel.”
