Ruth Langsford Finally Meets Celebrity Crush Tom Allen on ‘The Apprentice: You’re Fired’
Television personality Ruth Langsford recently revealed she has finally encountered her celebrity “crush,” the comedian and fellow TV presenter, Tom Allen. The former This Morning co-host appeared alongside Allen on the latest episode of BBC’s The Apprentice: You’re Fired, broadcast on March 27th. During the spin-off show, Langsford, 65, joined Rickie Haywood-Williams, 44, and Claudine Collins, 56, on the panel, moderated by Allen, 41. The quartet engaged in discussion with Max England, 30, the most recent candidate eliminated from Lord Alan Sugar’s boardroom, exploring his dismissal and future aspirations.
Instagram Post Captures Meeting
Following the broadcast, Langsford shared a video on Instagram documenting her and Allen in the You’re Fired studio. The Boomerang clip showcased the pair playfully switching between the show’s iconic ‘HIRED’ and ‘FIRED’ signs. Langsford was attired in a pink blazer, figure-hugging black trousers, and heeled boots. Allen, who succeeded Rhod Gilbert as host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired in 2019, presented a refined image in a two-piece suit and dickie bow tie. “I met my TV crush,” Langsford declared to her 1.1 million followers.
In a subsequent photograph posted to her Instagram Stories, the television personality commented: “What a delight this man is!” Allen, who is in a relationship with presenter and performer Alfie Garston, previously hosted a special edition of Big Way Wedding on the BBC last year.
Post Follows Marital Separation
Langsford’s post regarding her “crush” emerges almost a year after her separation from former husband Eamonn Holmes, 65. The couple, who jointly presented This Morning from 2006 to 2021, announced their separation in May 2024. A spokesperson stated their marriage was “over” and confirmed that the former couple were “in the process of divorcing.”
Moving Forward After Split
Earlier in the week, on March 26th, Langsford shared a video on social media displaying boxes awaiting unpacking in her new residence. The Loose Women regular, who has been residing alone in Surrey since the breakdown of her marriage, could be heard remarking: “So this is how I’m spending my afternoon!”
“That’s handbags in there, this is all my spring/summer stock. Look at those lovely colours! That’s all got to be unpacked and hung up,” the QVC presenter added, indicating her focus on establishing her new independent life.
Embracing Single Life
Sources close to Langsford have recently indicated that she has experienced a “difficult year” since her separation from Holmes. An insider further revealed that both parties are endeavouring to “move on” with their lives.
In a prior interview with Women and Home, Langsford stated: “Relationship breakdowns are very difficult, but you deal with it and have to move on. You can let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.”
“I’m not delighted my marriage is over, but I’ve accepted it. I’m trying to now embrace the fact I’m single and can make choices that are just about me,” she continued, reflecting on her outlook.
“Divorce is very painful. Most don’t do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion. But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope, you shouldn’t be doing this job,” Langsford concluded, acknowledging the public scrutiny of her personal life.
