Usher’s Absence Disappoints The One Show Host JB Gill After Last-Minute Cancellation
The One Show presenter JB Gill experienced disappointment as a highly anticipated celebrity guest, Usher, withdrew from appearing on the program at the last moment. The former JLS singer and his co-host, Alex Jones, had previously announced the exciting lineup for the show, generating considerable buzz, especially for Gill who was eager to meet the celebrated music icon. The cancellation news was delivered on Friday’s broadcast, leaving both hosts and viewers expressing their disheartenment.
Anticipation Builds for Lineup
During Thursday’s episode of The One Show, aired on March 27th, JB Gill and Alex Jones shared details of the guests expected for the following day’s show. Gill conveyed his enthusiasm about the prospect of encountering a renowned figure. “We’ll be back tomorrow when we’ll be joined by Beyond Paradise stars Kris Marshall and Zahra Ahmadi,” Gill stated as the broadcast neared its conclusion.
Alex Jones then revealed further additions to the guest list, naming actors Rosamund Pike and Olivia Dean. She heightened anticipation by teasing, “And someone JB is super excited about, the real-life Usher is going to be here.”
Actress Danielle Brooks, a guest on the show at the time, also expressed her excitement about Usher’s scheduled appearance, affirming her intention to return to witness it, according to reports.
Disappointment as Usher Cancels
However, the atmosphere shifted dramatically on Friday, March 28th, as Alex Jones delivered the unfortunate announcement regarding Usher’s absence. She revealed to viewers that Usher was no longer able to appear on The One Show, much to the dismay of everyone involved. “Now, we said last night that Usher was gonna be here. JB is devastated because unfortunately, he couldn’t make it,” Alex explained, while JB Gill visibly displayed his disappointment.
Acknowledging the show’s already packed schedule, Alex Jones attempted to alleviate the setback by suggesting that accommodating the prominent singer might have presented logistical challenges regardless. “But it would have been a tough job because we’ve got such a full sofa anyway,” she commented, before moving on to introduce the scheduled guests.
Beyond Paradise Stars Feature
Later in Friday’s episode of The One Show, actors Kris Marshall and Zahra Ahmadi, known for their roles in Beyond Paradise, offered viewers an exclusive preview of the upcoming third series of the popular crime drama. The new season premiered on BBC One at 8pm.
In the opening episode, Kris Marshall’s character, DI Humphrey Goodman, and Zahra Ahmadi’s character, DS Esther Williams, are depicted initiating an investigation into a death after a body is discovered in a river bordering Devon and Cornwall.
While other investigators were quick to dismiss the incident as an accidental death, DI Humphrey Goodman maintained suspicions of a more complex scenario.
