Broadcaster Alison Hammond has conveyed her excitement regarding her latest television venture, describing the experience as “wonderful” and “like therapy.” The 50-year-old presenter is preparing for the second series of ITV’s popular show For the Love of Dogs with Alison Hammond, set to premiere on April 1st. Taking on the role in 2023, Hammond succeeded the late Paul O’Grady as host of the heartwarming program centered around rescue dogs.

To build anticipation for the forthcoming season of For the Love of Dogs, Alison Hammond joined Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on Heart Breakfast on Friday, March 28th. During the radio broadcast, Hammond offered listeners a glimpse into the new series and articulated her happiness in hosting the program. “Oh gosh, it’s wonderful. It’s like therapy,” she revealed to Amanda and Jamie. “Going to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is my therapy; I receive so many cuddles and so much love from the dogs there.”

Hammond continued, “The dogs are absolutely beautiful. There are some truly emotional stories, and also some wonderfully eccentric dogs who are completely crazy!”
“But you know what? I am prepared with my treats. I have chicken with me, and I’m all over them. Honestly, I’ve had such a fantastic series.”
Dog Guru and Ministry of Defence Dogs
Alison Hammond also disclosed that in the upcoming episodes, one dog, named Woody, begins working with the Ministry of Defence. She playfully mentioned becoming something of a “dog guru” through her involvement with the well-loved ITV show, according to Birmingham Live reports.
“I receive kisses, I get everything! I get all the affection I require and then I get to go home,” she concluded lightheartedly.

Alison Hammond immerses herself in canine welfare in For the Love of Dogs, spending time at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London. She is actively involved in helping to find permanent homes for the rescued dogs.

In the new six-part series of For the Love of Dogs, Hammond gets involved with the daily care of the animals: assisting with walking, feeding, and training the dogs alongside the knowledgeable staff and dedicated volunteers at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
