Fatalities Reported in Southern Lebanon Amidst Alleged Israeli Strikes
At least three individuals have perished in recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon, according to reports from Lebanese media outlets on Thursday. These incidents occur amidst ongoing tensions and alleged violations of a standing ceasefire agreement in the region.
IDF Claims Strikes Against Hezbollah Operatives
The Israeli military stated that its forces targeted multiple operatives affiliated with the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) alleged these individuals were engaged in transporting weaponry at the time of the strikes.
Lebanese Health Ministry Confirms Casualties
Lebanon’s state news agency, NNA, citing the nation’s Health Ministry, confirmed that three people were killed in an assault targeting a vehicle within the affected area in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah Commander Reportedly Killed in Separate Operation
The IDF further announced that a Hezbollah commander was eliminated in a separate operation in another location in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF’s Telegram channel, this commander was allegedly responsible for “numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops.”
Ceasefire Agreement and Tensions
A cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah has been in effect since November. The agreement stipulates that Hezbollah forces are to retreat north of the Litani River, situated approximately 30 kilometers from the Lebanese–Israeli border.

Location of Recent Incidents
The deadly incident resulting in three fatalities transpired just north of the Litani River. Conversely, the operation targeting the Hezbollah commander occurred further south, closer to the border region.
Accusations of Ceasefire Violations
Israel considers any Hezbollah presence in southern Lebanon a breach of the ceasefire accord. Conversely, Israel has also faced accusations of non-compliance with the same agreement by maintaining a military presence in the area.
Ongoing Israeli Military Presence
While Israeli forces largely withdrew from most positions in southern Lebanon in February following a ground incursion in October, troops remain stationed at five strategic locations. The Lebanese government views this continued presence as a violation of the ceasefire stipulations.
Escalating Concerns in Lebanon
Recent Israeli military exercises conducted near the border have intensified concerns within Lebanon regarding a potential resurgence of conflict and renewed hostilities in the already volatile region.
