Virgin Media Boosts TV Service with Premier Sports Rugby Channel Addition

Telecoms provider Virgin Media has unveiled a significant enhancement to its TV service, much to the delight of sports fans. The latest update introduces the Premier Sports Rugby channel to select subscriptions at no additional cost. This complimentary upgrade ensures viewers can access extensive rugby coverage without incurring extra fees. As its name suggests, Premier Sports Rugby is the go-to destination for premier rugby competitions including the Investec Champions Cup, the EPCR Challenge Cup, the United Rugby Championship and select matches from France’s prestigious TOP14 league.

24/7 Rugby Action Now Available

The newly integrated channel will broadcast continuous rugby action around the clock. Subscribers will also gain access to live coverage of two matches per round from Japan Rugby League One, the country’s top-tier competition, alongside highlights from Major League Rugby in the United States.

Accessing the New Rugby Channel

For existing Premier Sports subscribers on Virgin TV, accessing the new channel will be seamless and without supplementary charges. Customers without a current subscription can still sign up for the platform at a price of £15.99. Beyond rugby, Premier Sports also delivers a diverse range of sporting content, including football, ice hockey and motorsport.

This announcement follows another recent development from Virgin Media. The company has finalized a new agreement with BBC-owned broadcaster UKTV.

According to Virgin Media, this agreement will bring UKTV’s “U” streaming service to all its customers.

This deal guarantees that viewers will maintain access to popular UKTV channels U&GOLD (formerly UKTV Gold) and U&alibi. These channels are renowned for broadcasting classic comedies such as Only Fools And Horses, Dad’s Army, and The Vicar of Dibley, as well as acclaimed dramas including Murdoch Mysteries, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex and The Red King.
