Democrats’ Stance on Antisemitism and the International Criminal Court
If Democrats genuinely seek to demonstrate their opposition to antisemitism, they would present a concrete strategy to confront the ethical blight on the Western world embodied by the International Criminal Court.
Senate Democrats Block Sanctions Against ICC
Senate Democrats recently employed the filibuster to obstruct legislation that would have penalized the ICC for its morally reprehensible warrant seeking the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
ICC Warrant Condemned as “Blood Libel”
The ICC’s warrant is predicated on entirely baseless accusations of war crimes allegedly committed during Israel’s justified self-defense in its ongoing multi-front conflict against Iran and its allied groups—an existential battle for survival.
This action is akin to a modern-day blood libel, and any American elected official truly committed to combating Jew-hatred should begin by addressing this issue.
Schumer’s “Guardian” Role Questioned
The fact that Senator Chuck Schumer, who identifies himself as the shomer (Hebrew for “guardian”) of the Jewish state, played a pivotal role in blocking this bill is particularly disgraceful.

Real-World Consequences of the Warrant
Beyond its value as propaganda, the warrant carries tangible repercussions. It compelled Netanyahu to undertake a circuitous route during a recent trip to the United States to ensure a safe landing in case of a medical emergency.
EU Nations’ Differing Stances
This is due to the support of many of the 27 European Union nations for this deplorable weaponization of international law against Israel.
Several EU member states have indicated their intention to enforce the arrest warrant should Prime Minister Netanyahu enter their territory:
- Austria
- Belgium
- The Netherlands
- Ireland
- Lithuania
- Slovenia
- Spain
France, Germany, and Italy have adopted a more ambiguous stance, remaining noncommittal on the matter.
Hungary’s Opposition to ICC
Paradoxically, only Hungary—often considered the bête noire of the modern left within the EU—has explicitly rejected the ICC’s authority in this matter.
Democrats Accused of Inaction on Antisemitism
Meanwhile, American Democrats (with a few exceptions, such as Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania) engage in extensive rhetoric concerning Jew-hatred but fail to take decisive action.
Demand for Democratic Alternative
Having rejected the Republican effort to end the scandalous pretense surrounding the ICC’s legitimacy, Democrats now bear a distinct ethical obligation to propose their own resolution to this injustice.
The alternative is to concede that those harboring antisemitic views have already gained dominance within their party.
