Deadly Drone Strikes Hit Kyiv Ahead of Peace Talks
Amid ongoing conflict, Russian forces under President Vladimir Putin launched a series of lethal drone strikes against Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals, including a five-year-old child. The overnight attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, occurred merely a day prior to anticipated ceasefire discussions. Negotiators from Moscow and Kyiv are expected to convene for indirect peace talks with US officials in Saudi Arabia.
Civilian Casualties Reported
These attacks occurred despite a previously agreed-upon partial ceasefire, brokered last week, where Russia had committed to ceasing strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities and emergency responders confirmed that a barrage of drones targeting Kyiv overnight on Sunday resulted in at least three fatalities, again including a young child.
