Melbourne Police Investigate Brazen Fawkner Shooting
Detectives are investigating a daylight shooting in Fawkner, labeling the incident a “planned and targeted attack” that endangered the public.
Tradesman Shot in Ankle in Alleged Lure
A man sustained a gunshot wound to his ankle after reportedly being lured to a residence in Fawkner, a suburb in Melbourne’s north. The victim was allegedly under the false impression he was attending to provide a quotation for trade work.
Surveillance Footage Released
Security footage of the incident, which occurred on October 3rd of last year, was released to the public on Monday. The footage shows the victim arriving on Denys Street just after 9:30 am.
Shooter Emerges from Mercedes-Benz
The video shows a second individual alighting from a white 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC. This individual then approaches the victim and discharges a firearm, striking the victim in the left ankle.
The bullet penetrated the ankle and subsequently struck the victim’s right foot.

Victim Hospitalized with Serious Injuries
The injured man was transported to a hospital and treated for serious injuries. He continues to receive ongoing medical care.

Authorities have stated the Mercedes-Benz GLC, bearing cloned registration plates, 1NB7FC, remains unrecovered.
Investigators believe the Denys Street address was selected randomly and is not linked to any residents of the street.
Witness Description of Suspect
A witness present at the scene provided a description of the suspect. He is described as being of African appearance, approximately 182cm tall, with a thin build, dark hair, and brown eyes.

Detective Inspector Adam Tilley stated that law enforcement believes the shooting was a “planned and targeted attack.”
“This incident would have been exceptionally alarming for individuals present on the street conducting their daily routines at 9:30 am on a Wednesday,” he commented on Monday.
“We have initiated a significant investigation into this incident and urge anyone possessing information regarding the shooting to come forward.”
“This act had the potential to endanger innocent bystanders, and we are committed to utilizing all available resources to bring those responsible to justice.”
