Aimee Lou Wood Unveils Behind-the-Scenes Details of “The White Lotus” Season 3
Aimee Lou Wood has discussed her experiences filming the upcoming third season of the acclaimed HBO series, “The White Lotus.”
Filming Anecdotes Shared on “The Jonathan Ross Show”
The actress, known for her role as Chelsea in the show, revealed intriguing filming anecdotes during her appearance on “The Jonathan Ross Show” on Saturday, March 22nd. Wood joined fellow guests Sir Stephen Fry, Joanne McNally, Big Zuu, and Yungblud on the BBC One chat show.
Snake Bite Scene Required Fake Leg Prosthetic
Wood detailed the memorable scene in which her character is bitten by a snake, explaining that she required a custom-made prosthetic leg for the scene to be filmed safely and effectively.
“Regarding the snakes, an incredible procedure took place. A specialist visited my residence before I journeyed to Thailand. He utilized a laser to scan my leg, subsequently creating a replica. It was perfectly matched to my skin tone and texture. The snake actually bit this artificial leg. I remain uncertain of its composition,” she stated on the program.
Wood, who rose to prominence in Netflix’s “Sex Education,” elaborated on the scene’s symbolism: “The snakebite on my character is laden with symbolism, especially given it’s now the year of the snake. While the bite is a negative event, her inherent resilience allows her to recover. Crucially, the snake interacted with the prosthetic limb.”

Co-star Walton Goggins’ Ophidiophobia Created On-Set Challenges
The actress further disclosed that while she does not fear snakes, her “White Lotus” co-star Walton Goggins suffers from a significant phobia of the reptiles, which introduced complications during the filming of the snake scene.
“Snakes do not frighten me personally. However, for Walton [Goggins], they represent his utmost fear. This isn’t even his first encounter with them in a filming context. It’s his paramount phobia,” she noted, before recounting an incident where Goggins required hospitalization.
Wood continued, “He genuinely experienced panic attacks between takes, requiring considerable mental preparation. On one occasion, a snake nipped him, necessitating a hospital visit. Meanwhile, I was fully committed to portraying my character’s escape, resulting in a fall and lacerations down my side, leaving a mark on my shoulder. Snake day proved to be quite tumultuous!”
Secrecy Surrounding “The White Lotus” Proved “Painful”
In other remarks, Wood confessed that maintaining secrecy about “The White Lotus” plot details while awaiting the third series premiere on HBO had been “difficult.”
She admitted, “It’s challenging; I’ve been holding onto confidential information for an extended period. I possess excessive knowledge, an uncomfortable level of power. I anticipate immense relief upon the release of episode eight. It has been demanding. People are intensely curious. I often respond, ‘You will then resent me for spoiling it. But I am tempted to tell you…’”
