Katya Jones Suggests Potential Exit from Strictly Come Dancing
Professional dancer Katya Jones has indicated she may depart from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in the near future. The 35-year-old ballroom specialist, a fixture on the popular dance competition since 2016, has navigated several high-profile controversies during her tenure.
Future Plans and Judging Aspirations
In response to questions about her 2025 plans during an online Q&A session on Instagram, Jones stated, “2025 is shaping up to be very exciting! I have several projects and jobs in development. Strictly has provided me with this platform, and I intend to continue as long as my enthusiasm remains.”
She further elaborated, “However, we all progress and mature – and time advances. It’s crucial to anticipate the future and cultivate a career path doing what I love.” Jones then hinted at a potential transition to a judging role, adding, “You might soon witness my capabilities as a judge.”
“I possess the expertise and qualifications to be technically discerning, yet my extensive experience on the show provides me with an understanding of the need for empathy and compassion,” she concluded.
Past Controversies
The award-winning dancer faced significant scrutiny in 2018 after photographs emerged of her kissing celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh. Both were in separate relationships at the time.

Jones achieved victory in the 15th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, partnering with Joe McFadden.
Heathrow Airport Disruption Affects Strictly Star
Separately, Strictly Come Dancing professional Aljaž Škorjanec experienced travel disruptions due to the closure of Heathrow Airport. The airport faced closures following a fire at an electrical substation, leading to widespread power outages and flight cancellations.
Škorjanec, husband of Janette Manrara, informed followers on Instagram that his flight back to London was rescheduled due to the disruption. He had been en route to the airport when news of the closure broke.
He shared a photo with his daughter Lyra, stating he had rebooked his flight for the following morning and was “back on the couch.” He also expressed well wishes to other travelers affected by the Heathrow incident.
