LOS ANGELES β Prosecutors in Los Angeles County will not pursue sexual assault charges against film producer David Guillod, announced the District Attorney’s Office on Friday. The decision comes more than four years after his initial arrest.
Insufficient Evidence Cited in Decision
District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that the decision was based on insufficient evidence to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in a released statement.
Santa Barbara County Case Previously Dismissed
This announcement follows a similar dismissal nearly three years prior in Santa Barbara County, where a judge also rejected identical charges against Guillod.
An attempt to reach Guillod’s legal representative for comment was unsuccessful. Guillod has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
Background of the Case
David Guillod, a talent manager and producer recognized for films such as “Atomic Blonde” (2017) and “Extraction” (2020), was arrested in 2020. He faced accusations of rape and sexual assault from six women, with incidents alleged to have occurred between 2014 and 2020 across Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties. Authorities initially consolidated the cases in Santa Barbara County. However, during a preliminary hearing in 2022, a judge determined there was insufficient evidence to proceed to trial regarding four of the accusers.

While the Santa Barbara judge found sufficient evidence regarding alleged assaults against an actor in 2012 and a waitress in 2018, these incidents fell under Los Angeles County jurisdiction. Consequently, Santa Barbara prosecutors transferred these specific cases to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
DA Hochman Acknowledges Accusers’ Trauma
In his statement, DA Hochman acknowledged the gravity of the accusations and expressed empathy for the “pain and trauma” experienced by the accusers during the lengthy investigation.
Similar Decision in Marilyn Manson Case
This decision follows a similar recent move by Hochman’s office to decline charges against musician Marilyn Manson after a separate, extended investigation.
Guillod Case Stemmed from #MeToo Era Task Force
Guillod’s case originated from a task force established by former District Attorney Jackie Lacey in 2017. This task force was created to investigate sexual misconduct in Hollywood amidst the rise of the #MeToo movement. Notably, the majority of cases reviewed by the task force did not result in criminal charges.
A notable exception to this trend was the case of movie executive Harvey Weinstein, who was convicted of rape and sexual assault in Los Angeles in 2022. Weinstein is currently appealing these convictions.
