Calvin Harris Acquires Hometown Pub in Sentimental Investment
World-renowned DJ Calvin Harris, estimated to be the wealthiest DJ globally with a fortune exceeding £230 million, has made a nostalgic return to his origins by acquiring the pub where he once socialized prior to his ascent to international stardom. The Scottish record producer, 41, has reportedly partnered with his longtime associate, Mark Irving, to take over the Coach & Horses Inn, situated in a charming area of his hometown, Dumfries.
New Business Venture: To The Nines
The pair have established a company named To The Nines and have undertaken management of the establishment, with Irving assuming the role of landlord. A source disclosed to The Sun, “Calvin and Mark have entered into a business partnership, creating To The Nines. They have now acquired the Coach & Horses, and Mark is installed as the landlord.”
The source further noted, “It’s a beautiful pub with a fantastic ambiance. It’s also an excellent grassroots music venue, a feature they are both genuinely enthusiastic about.”
Personal Touches and Thriving Business
Adding a personal element to the venue, a signed poster from Harris’s debut album is displayed on the wall, a keepsake from his pre-fame era. Despite the challenges currently faced by pubs, the Coach & Horses Inn is reportedly flourishing under its new ownership.
The source elaborated, “Calvin frequented this pub before achieving fame, and a signed poster from his first album is on display. Despite the current difficulties for pubs, the Coach & Horses Inn is thriving.”
Reminiscences from Former Landlord
John Owens, the previous landlord, reminisced about Harris, whose birth name is Adam Wiles, and his early patronage of the pub. “Calvin, or Adam, is a pleasant fellow, always has been,” Owens shared. “We are all proud of his accomplishments. When he is in town, he will visit if he has the opportunity,” reflecting the local community’s pride in Harris’s success.
Harris, who has maintained sobriety for several years, continues to appreciate the social atmosphere of the pub while opting for non-alcoholic beverages.
Balancing Business, Music, and Personal Life
His return to the pub scene coincides with his recent endeavors in music and business. In addition to managing his new venture, Harris also manages his farm in Ibiza and his upscale residence in North London, where he resides with his wife, Radio 1 DJ Vick Hope.
Past Struggles with Alcohol
Harris previously disclosed that his alcohol consumption became excessive before he stopped drinking entirely in 2014.
He revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he used to consume two bottles of whisky nightly, alongside pastries from Greggs.
In a 2018 exchange with fans, Harris acknowledged that while his life is “a bit less fun,” his health has improved. He wrote, “Aye things are a bit less fun but haven’t had an arrhythmia since 2014.”
Musical Comeback and Chart Success
The acclaimed musician recently garnered attention not only for his entrepreneurial spirit but also for his artistic endeavors. After a 15-year hiatus from singing, Harris has resumed vocal duties with his latest track, “Smoke The Pain Away,” which premiered last week and is anticipated to climb the music charts.
