Woman accused of drowning dog in Orlando airport bathroom so she could board plane

Woman Arrested After Dog Drowned in Orlando Airport Restroom

A Florida woman faces charges after allegedly drowning her dog in a restroom at Orlando International Airport. Authorities say the incident occurred as the woman attempted to board an aircraft.

Details of the Incident

Alison Lawrence, 57, was taken into custody on Tuesday in connection to the event that transpired late last year at the Orlando airport.

According to an Orlando Police arrest affidavit, Lawrence arrived at the airport on December 16th with her dog, Tywinn, a 9-year-old miniature schnauzer. She was scheduled for a flight.

Flight Denial and Subsequent Actions

Reports indicate that Lawrence lacked the necessary documentation for Tywinn to travel on the plane. Airport personnel informed her that she could not fly with the animal, the affidavit states.

Subsequently, Lawrence proceeded to an airport restroom. A staff member reported observing her inside a stall, apparently cleaning up a significant quantity of water and dog food from the bathroom floor, as detailed in the affidavit.

Upon returning to remove a trash bag, the employee discovered the dog’s body and canine accessories, including a collar with a dog tag, inside the receptacle, according to the police document.

Identification and Cause of Death

The dog tag contained Lawrence’s name and contact information. Animal services officials responded to the scene and positively identified the deceased dog using its microchip, the affidavit reveals.

A subsequent examination determined that Tywinn’s cause of death was drowning.

Arrest and Animal Cruelty Charge

The affidavit asserts that Lawrence is believed to have engaged in “extreme and tragic action” by intentionally killing her dog.

Lawrence was apprehended in Lake County on Tuesday and is now facing a charge of aggravated animal cruelty.
