Sam Quek Joins ITV Racing for Grand National Debut
Television personality and Olympic champion Sam Quek is set to make her debut as part of the ITV Racing team at the upcoming Grand National meeting held at Aintree next month. The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant will collaborate with Oli Bell in the social stable during ITV’s broadcast of the three-day event, which includes live coverage of 17 races, culminating in the prestigious Randox Grand National at 4 PM on April 5.
Liverpool Native Excited to Cover Iconic Race
Quek shared her enthusiasm with Racing Post, stating her lifelong connection to the event: “Being from Liverpool, the Grand National has always been a significant part of my life. Every year, my family would gather at home, and we’d watch the race together, supporting our chosen horses. My first experience attending in person was in 2017, a truly unforgettable occasion. I am incredibly excited to join the ITV Racing team this year, engaging with the fantastic individuals at the racecourse and the millions watching from their homes.”

This new role for Quek arises two years after the BBC confirmed that ‘Question of Sport’ was taken off air after more than five decades.
The popular BBC One program first aired in 1970, initially presented by David Vine.

The BBC cited “inflation and funding challenges” as reasons for the show’s current hiatus, stating, “difficult decisions have to be made, therefore Question of Sport is currently not in production at the moment.”
Reports indicate that declining viewership figures and reduced audience numbers on iPlayer contributed to the decision to halt production.
