Man United 'make sudden move' for £40m Borussia Dortmund star, who the Germans DON'T want to sell but could be forced to add to transfer fire-sale

Manchester United Reportedly Interested in Borussia Dortmund Midfielder Felix Nmecha

Manchester United are reportedly expressing strong interest in acquiring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, according to reports.

The Red Devils are expected to revamp their squad during the upcoming summer transfer window following a disappointing season under manager Ruben Amorim.

Previously linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Geovany Quenda, United reportedly lost out to Chelsea in the pursuit of the player.

United Turn Attention to Nmecha

Now, sources indicate that Manchester United have shifted their focus to the German market and are actively pursuing a potential transfer for Dortmund’s Nmecha, as reported by Bild.

Borussia Dortmund currently face the prospect of missing out on Champions Leaguequalification for next season, which may compel them to sell key players.

Nmecha’s Performance for Dortmund

Despite Dortmund’s underwhelming season, Nmecha has been a standout performer for the Bundesliga club, making 27 appearances across all competitions.

In these appearances, he has contributed three goals and two assists, impressing with his composure and quick decision-making in the midfield.

Dortmund Hesitant to Sell

However, Dortmund consider Nmecha a crucial player for their future and are reportedly reluctant to let him leave, according to German media outlets.

It is suggested that Dortmund might consider selling other players such as Gregor Kobel, Jamie Gittens, and Karim Adeyemi before contemplating Nmecha’s departure, in an effort to retain the highly-regarded 24-year-old.

Nmecha is currently sidelined with a ligament injury, keeping him out of action for seven weeks, but he has recently resumed light training.

Nmecha’s Manchester City Past

Should Nmecha move to Old Trafford, he may need to win over some Manchester United fans due to his previous affiliation with rivals Manchester City.

The midfielder, along with his brother Lukas, progressed through Manchester City’s youth academy before joining German side Wolfsburg in 2021.

United Eye Striker Reinforcements

In separate reports, it has emerged that Manchester United have compiled a four-man shortlist as they aim to bolster their attacking options this summer.

According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, four forwards are under consideration, including Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.

The other strikers on the list reportedly include Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt, Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, and Victor Osimhen of Napoli, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.

Manchester United’s current top scorer in the league is Bruno Fernandes, with eight Premier League goals. Amad Diallo is second with six, but is currently injured for the remainder of the season.

The club reportedly intends to be active in the summer transfer market, following the winter signings of Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven.

It remains to be seen how much the club can spend due to Financial Fair Play regulations, especially with plans for a new £2 billion stadium recently announced.

Nevertheless, transfer activity is anticipated, with a striker being a primary target.
