Couple’s Lottery Jackpot Fuels Dream Home Renovation
A couple featured on “Homes Under the Hammer” are poised to transform their property after a £1 million lottery win. Craig Haggie, 36, was reportedly astonished after purchasing a scratch card during a lunch break errand. The father of four celebrated his substantial lottery prize after buying the winning card at a Spar store on Fore Street, Callington, while awaiting a food order.
Million-Pound Win Sparks Home Transformation
Mr. Haggie and his wife, Zoe, 33, who previously acquired their current residence at auction on the popular television program, are now making plans to demolish their existing bungalow. Their vision is to construct a custom-designed dream home for themselves and their four children. The lottery victory also enables Mrs. Haggie, currently employed as a cleaner, to consider reducing her work hours and potentially engaging domestic help for their new home.
Lunch Break Leads to Life-Changing Fortune
Describing the momentous occasion, Mr. Haggie recounted having spare time while waiting for his lunch. He visited a local shop, purchasing a beverage for his brother and deciding on two scratch cards “for good measure.” Upon returning to the offices of their family enterprise, WCL Storage Systems, the magnitude of their luck became apparent.
“I stepped out for lunch and returned a millionaire,” he stated. “It was complete pandemonium, my family were leaping around the office, yelling. My initial thought was, ‘Where’s the safest location to store this scratch card?’”
He further explained, “My brother and I decided I should keep it extremely close. We placed the ticket in a plastic bag and taped it to my person! We must have appeared utterly frantic as he held the tape roll, and I spun around to ensure it was securely attached.”

The lottery winner conceded that this security measure was short-lived due to overheating. He then opted to place the winning ticket inside a saucepan, stored on top of a kitchen cabinet. “Your thinking is clearly not rational when you discover you’ve become a millionaire,” he remarked humorously.
Joy and Relief Follows Lottery Revelation
Mrs. Haggie was at work when her husband conveyed the astonishing news. Her initial reaction was disbelief, suspecting a practical joke. However, upon realizing the veracity of the situation, Mrs. Haggie admitted to collapsing “onto the floor and crying” tears of joy.
She elaborated, “It was simply the overwhelming relief that we could finally resolve our housing situation and provide each child with their own bedroom. We adore our location – it’s a beautiful area, and our neighbors are wonderful, but the bungalow is simply too small for six individuals.”
New Home Plans Underway
The delighted couple, married for six years, are parents to four children aged between five and 11. Nine years prior, they purchased their two-bedroom bungalow at auction, which was featured on “Homes Under the Hammer,” with ambitions for renovation.
The couple had previously indicated that despite diligent saving, their aspiration for a perfect family home remained distant. However, as newly minted millionaires, Mrs. Haggie revealed she already possesses a sketchbook brimming with designs for their future residence and is eager to utilize their newfound financial resources.
