Upon returning to Earth, astronauts may exhibit unsteadiness due to the impact of Earth’s gravity on their inner ear.
“Our inner ear is highly adapted to Earth’s environment,” he explained.
“However, in space, the absence of gravity leads to a reduction of fluid in the inner ear, altering its function.”

Recovery Timeline and Long-Term Effects
Astronauts typically require a recovery period after returning from space, ranging from one to three months, according to experts.
Currently, there are no documented cases of astronauts experiencing permanent health issues as a result of space travel.
Dr. Vin Gupta, an Air Force surgeon experienced with individuals in prolonged flight, concurred that Williams’ ability to raise her arm was a favorable sign.
“The ability to raise and subsequently lower one’s arm indicates a positive prognosis,” he stated.
