Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn Faces Mounting Pressure to Resign After Arrest
Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn is facing increasing calls for his resignation following his arrest on allegations of soliciting a minor for prostitution.
Arrest in Bloomington
Eichorn, a Republican, was apprehended in Bloomington, a Minneapolis suburb, after arranging a meeting with what he believed to be a 17-year-old girl, according to police reports. He was, in fact, communicating with an undercover detective.
Bloomington police stated that Eichorn arrived at the designated location in a pickup truck and was taken into custody on Monday “without incident.”
Held in Hennepin County Jail
As of Wednesday morning, records indicated Eichorn was being held at Hennepin County Jail. It remains uncertain whether he has obtained legal counsel, and his Senate office has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Potential Felony Charges
Authorities confirmed that Eichorn is under investigation for potential felony charges related to the solicitation of a minor for prostitution. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office stated on Wednesday morning that they had not yet received the case for review.

Police Chief’s Strong Stance
Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges has previously referred to the city as the “Orange Jumpsuit District,” highlighting its strict approach to sex work outside of designated areas.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Hodges asserted, “As a 40-year-old man, if you come to the Orange Jumpsuit District attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, you should anticipate being arrested.”
Calls for Resignation Mount
Leading figures in the Minnesota House Republican party, Speaker Lisa Demuth and Leader Harry Niska, released a joint statement declaring: “Given the severity of these accusations, Senator Eichorn should resign. While due process is his right, we must maintain a higher standard for legislators.”
The Senate Republican Caucus has also urged Eichorn to step down from his position.
“We are appalled by these reports, and this alleged behavior necessitates immediate resignation,” the caucus stated. “Justin faces a challenging period ahead and needs to prioritize his family.”
Background Information on Senator Eichorn
According to his official biography on the Minnesota Senate website, Eichorn is married and has four children.
He recently attracted attention for sponsoring a proposed bill to recognize “Trump Derangement Syndrome” as a mental illness, defining it as “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal persons that is in reaction to the policies and presidencies of President Donald J. Trump.”
Second Minnesota Senator Facing Felony Charges
Eichorn is the second sitting Minnesota senator currently facing felony charges. Senator Nicole Mitchell, a Democrat representing Woodbury, was arrested last spring after allegedly breaking into her stepmother’s residence following her father’s death, as detailed in a criminal complaint.
Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to a felony first-degree burglary charge and intends to plead not guilty to a felony charge of possessing burglary tools, according to her attorney, Bruce Ringstrom Jr.
