Jimmy Fallon Mocks Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show
Meghan Markle has faced criticism from another celebrity regarding her popular Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.” Despite mixed reviews, the show has been renewed for a second season. The initial installment secured a spot in Netflix’s global Top 10, garnering 2.6 million views in its debut week, and a subsequent season is planned for autumn 2025.
Fallon’s “Trivia Night” Dig
This time, the criticism came from US comedian Jimmy Fallon, host of “The Tonight Show.” During the Monday evening episode, Fallon and his sidekick, Steve Higgins, made a pointed remark about Prince Harry’s wife.
During the “Trivia Night” segment, Higgins posed a question: “You’re going to get this. What is the number one question that mystifies scientists?”
After a pause, Jimmy responded: “Is there life on another planet?” Higgins then clarified that was incorrect, building anticipation before revealing the “correct” answer.
The Punchline
Higgins told Jimmy: “Why does Meghan Markle make her own pretzel bags? They don’t know why.” The joke elicited laughter from the audience. The gag referenced a scene from “With Love, Meghan,” where the mother of two is depicted transferring pre-packaged Trader Joe’s pretzels into a personalized bag.
Chuckling, Jimmy stated: “That’s interesting. She takes it from one bag and puts it in another bag, and that confuses people.” In the scene, Markle carefully transfers the store-bought pretzels into a bag embellished with a string bow. She then remarks: “This, we’re just going to put into a different bag.” She then labels the bag, noting: “I know that Daniel loves peanut butter, but I’m going to label this anyway, you always want to be conscious if someone has a nut allergy.”
Past Show Appearances
Meghan Markle was scheduled to appear on “The Tonight Show” twice in 2022; however, both appearances were ultimately canceled. Her September 2022 interview was canceled due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Later that year, NBC mistakenly announced her show participation in December, before retracting the announcement. However, Prince Harry did appear on the show in September 2024. He was filmed panicking while navigating a haunted maze with Fallon.
Other Celebrity Criticism
Several other celebrities have criticized Meghan Markle’s Netflix show “With Love, Meghan.” Actress Justine Bateman recently criticized Meghan and Harry, accusing them of “turning being victims into an Olympic sport.” Additionally, “Great British Bake Off” judge Prue Leith expressed disapproval of the Duchess’s project saying: “I’m not a Meghan Markle fan. There’s more to life than how you look and how your friends think of you.”
