Formula 1 Teams Grapple with Car Shipment Delays Before Chinese Grand Prix
Several Formula 1 teams are reportedly encountering logistical challenges as car shipments have been delayed ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. Following the Australian Grand Prix just last weekend, teams faced a rapid turnaround to transport substantial equipment approximately 8,000 kilometers from Melbourne to Shanghai. However, disruptions in freight transportation have seemingly created significant difficulties for multiple teams.
Transport Discrepancies Impact Leading Constructors
According to prominent F1 photographer Kym Illman, four constructors arrived in China to find their cars absent from the paddock. It is understood that Red Bull Racing, Mercedes-AMG Petronas, McLaren Racing, and Aston Martin Aramco have all been affected by ‘technical issues’ concerning freight departing from Melbourne. Consequently, a total of eight F1 cars are yet to reach the Shanghai International Circuit.
Limited Preparation Time for Affected Teams
This situation means the four teams in question will have less than 48 hours to prepare for Friday’s initial practice sessions. While the delayed cars are anticipated to arrive on Wednesday evening, the possibility of further setbacks remains, potentially exacerbating the problems.
Reports indicate that numerous team personnel are ‘waiting in hotels’ as track activity is limited without the arrival of the missing cars. Other teams, having received their equipment without delay earlier in the week, are proceeding with setup operations.
FIA Responds to Logistical Hurdles with Curfew Adjustment
In response to these circumstances, the FIA has intervened, modifying the Wednesday night curfew times due to ‘logistical challenges’. All ten teams will now face a reduced six-hour period during which work on cars is prohibited, down from the standard 11.5 hours.

Norris Seeks Back-to-Back Victory, Verstappen Aiming for Repeat Performance
Lando Norris is aiming to secure consecutive victories on Sunday after triumphing at the Australian Grand Prix. He successfully maintained a lead over Max Verstappen to claim victory, with McLaren demonstrating enhanced pace compared to their competitors.
However, McLaren has not achieved a win in China for 14 years, while Verstappen secured a dominant victory last season. Red Bull Racing is actively working to enhance performance for Verstappen as he aims to replicate his previous success.
Hamilton Determined to Recover After Disappointing Australia Race
Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, will be focused on rebounding after a disappointing race in Australia, his debut with Ferrari. He finished in 10th position and engaged in several strained radio exchanges with his new race engineer throughout the 58 laps.
