Leapmotor Launches in UK Market with Electric SUV
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, Leapmotor, has debuted in the United Kingdom, introducing an electric SUV positioned as a competitor to Range Rover, but at a significantly lower price point. The Leapmotor C10 electric SUV, the brand’s flagship model, is being released ahead of Range Rover’s inaugural electric offering.
C10: Features and Specifications
The C10 is equipped with a 69.9kWh battery, providing an estimated WLTP range of up to 263 miles. Boasting 218hp, the C10 achieves a top speed of 105mph and accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 7.5 seconds. The interior features a suite of technology, including:
- 360-degree surround view camera
- Heated steering wheel
- 12-speaker premium hi-fi system
A 14.6-inch touchscreen display is integrated, along with an ambient lighting system that synchronizes with music.
Safety and Warranty
The C10 has been awarded a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP. It is now available in the UK market for £36,500.
Leapmotor provides a four-year warranty for the vehicle and an extended eight-year warranty for the battery.
Leapmotor UK’s Perspective
Damien Dally, Managing Director of Leapmotor UK, stated, “These exciting new electric cars embody our ambitious goal to become the leading value electric vehicle brand in the UK. We aim to deliver superior specifications and advanced technology as standard.”
He added, “We believe customers should not have to sacrifice quality for affordability. This proposition offers genuine value without compromise for UK car buyers.”
Range Rover Electric: A Pricey Contender
Range Rover’s first electric SUV is anticipated to arrive in late 2025, with a projected starting price of £104,025.
This price tag positions the Range Rover approximately £70,000 more expensive than Leapmotor’s new electric vehicle.
Land Rover is currently conducting extensive testing of prototypes in varied conditions, both on and off-road, as part of its pre-launch development phase.
Range Rover Electric: Performance Expectations
The electric Range Rover is expected to offer a range of around 300 miles on a single charge and will feature rapid charging capabilities due to its 800-volt architecture.
Land Rover asserts that the electric model has undergone “one of the most rigorous engineering validation programs ever undertaken.”
Testing has encompassed extreme climates, from -40 degrees in Sweden to 50 degrees in Dubai.
Performance figures suggest the model will be capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds.
