Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May reunite for new TV show

The latest television venture from the renowned trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has been revealed. The three are set to grace our screens once more following the conclusion of their popular show, The Grand Tour.

Famed for their stint on Top Gear, Jeremy, Richard and James hosted the successful series until 2015 when Jeremy was dismissed due to an alleged dispute with a producer. His co-hosts subsequently departed and transitioned to the Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour, which premiered in 2016 but concluded in 2024 with two poignant special episodes.

At the time of the show’s finale, James suggested that it might be time for a fresh motoring show as he felt they were “too old”, a sentiment Jeremy concurred with. However, the trio is now reuniting for another Amazon Prime Video project, aptly named The Not Very Grand Tour.

Described by the BBFC as a “motoring comedy documentary series”, the show will see Jeremy, Richard and James “celebrating the combustion engine” while reminiscing about their past escapades and test drives. The first episode, titled The Glory and The Power, is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on 18 April.

While further details about the show remain under wraps, it is known that Phil Churchward, who worked on both The Grand Tour and Top Gear, is the director. The cast list includes the names of Jeremy, James and Richard, reports the Mirror.

After the departure of the original trio from Top Gear, Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc took over the reins. However, Chris eventually left, paving the way for Chris Harris and Rory Reid to join Matt.

In 2019, both Matt and Rory stepped down, leading to Chris teaming up with Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff to helm Top Gear. This line-up remained until 2023 when the BBC decided to suspend Top Gear indefinitely following Freddie’s car accident in 2022.

The Grand Tour is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. The Not Very Good Tour will be released on April 18.
