John Wick 5 confirmed by Lionsgate as studio speaks out on Keanu Reeves hitman's death

This summer, Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick in Ballerina, an Ana de Armas-led spin-off set between the events of John Wick Chapters 3 and 4.

Given the assassination didn’t kick the bucket until John Wick Chapter 4, this explains how he can cameo in the upcoming film.

Meanwhile, John Wick 5 is in the works, even though Reeves himself said last week that his character was dead. Yet he did admit that Hollywood can always change things around.

And now a Lionsgate executive has addressed just that while confirming that John Wick 5 is happening.

Speaking with Comic Book, Lionsgate executive Jenefer Brown said of the franchise’s future: “This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways. Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie and [we] can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spinoffs to come, a TV series, video game.”

The outlet then pressed her specifically on John Wick 5, a film that would presumably need Reeves’ character alive.

She replied: “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film … [John Wick] may be [dead]. We are all on baited breath waiting to find out.”

Given Chapter 4’s box office success and the fact we never saw Wick’s body, it seems incredibly likely the hitman isn’t really dead.
