The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct may be a few weeks away, but that hasn’t stopped eagle-eyed fans from spotting new details about the upcoming device.
According to the latest leak, the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring back a popular feature from recent Nintendo console releases.
Indeed, based on a new FCC filing, the Nintendo Switch 2 will support the same near field communication (NFC) technology used by the Wii U, 3DS and original Nintendo Switch.
It’s not a huge surprise, but it means Nintendo Switch 2 users will once again be able to use amiibo figurines in supported games.
The filing also suggests Nintendo will continue to release new amiibo figures for high-profile first-party releases.

Amiibo figures were first introduced in 2014, at a time when the Wii U was struggling to make a mark at retail.
