Guinea star axed from AFCON after 'accusing manager of stealing Vinicius Jr shirt'

Guinea star Morlaye Sylla has reportedly been axed from the AFCON preparations of his nation, following a bizarre bust-up with his manager in which an accusation was made that a swapped shirt had been stolen.

Sylla, 25, went out of his way to swap shirts with Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr, following a recent international fixture against Brazil.

The two stars posed for a picture on the field in the aftermath of the match, with each player holding the swapped shirts. Later, however, the Vinicius shirt was said to have gone missing from the Guinea dressing room.

According to reports via the Daily Mail, after returning to the dressing room to discover the shirt had mysteriously disappeared, Sylla began to ‘point fingers at team-mates’ before turning his attention to the manager.

Boss Kaba Diawara, a former Arsenal and West Ham star, was said to then have been blamed for taking the shirt.

Now, Sylla has been left out of the squad ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations in January and looks poised to miss the prestigious tournament.

The player is understood not to have apologised for his accusations, following the Brazil match which Guinea lost 4-1.

Guinea will kick-off their campaign when they take on Cameroon on January 15 before facing Gambia and reigning champions Senegal.

Guinea will take to AFCON spear-headed by former Liverpool star Naby Keita, who joined Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window.

Another former Liverpool ace, Sadio Mane, will feature in the competition for holders Senegal, while Mohamed Salah will once again be the poster boy for the competition with Egypt.
