Carol Kirkwood has hinted at leaving BBC Breakfast to “focus” on her writing in a new interview.

As well as presenting the weather on the news programme, Carol is an author who has published an array of novels about romance.
Her books include Secrets of the Villa Amore, The Hotel on the Riviera and Under A Greek Moon.
Looking ahead to the future, the well-loved presenter told Prima: “It’ll be nice to retire one day and focus on my writing.

“At the moment, I have two careers running in parallel and they’re both full-time, so it’s time-consuming.
“But I also love both of them and, if you want something done, ask a busy person. I can’t imagine I’ll be doing the weather when I’m 90, though!”
Carol is the programme’s longest-serving presenter and is still the programme’s leading weather presenter.
The star also addressed her appearance in the magazine interview, which she is on the front cover of for the February edition.
Carol shared: “I feel no pressure whatsoever about how I look. I’m just into my 60s, but I think the positive is that you care less about what people think of you.
“You hear people’s opinions, but you don’t take them on board as much as when you’re younger.”
While Carol has kept tight-lipped on any wedding plans, she announced she was engaged on BBC Breakfast last May.
She said she and her partner Steve Randall were engaged live from the Chelsea Flower Show, sending viewers into a frenzy.
