PS Plus January 2024 FREE PS4 and PS5 games reveal date, time, leaks and predictions

Sony is gearing up to unveil the first batch of PS Plus Essentials for 2024. Available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on every tier, the free PS4 and PS5 games will be officially unveiled by Sony at 4.30pm GMT UK time on the afternoon of December 27. The games will be available to download and install less than a week later, on the morning of January 2. This means you have roughly a week left to grab the current crop of PS Plus releases, which include Powerwash Simulator, LEGO 2K Drive and Sable.

Needless to say, in the run up to the big reveal, subscribers have been having fun predicting the Essentials line-up for January 2024.

In an entertaining thread over on Reddit, multiple PS Plus subscribers believe that Square Enix’s adventure game Forspoken will be given away for free.

Forspoken has been hotly tipped to join the PS Plus line-up for the past few months, though has so far failed to make an appearance.

Despite some fancy visuals and interesting ideas, Forspoken was something of a critical and commercial flop. A PS Plus appearance would certainly give the title a boost.

Another game that has made multiple appearances is Hades. A fantastic rogue-like action game, Hades tasks players with escaping the ancient underworld.

Other popular choices include Hitman, Sifu, Little Nightmares 2, Disco Elysium, Need for Speed Unbound, Tunic and Cuphead.

Perhaps optimistically, there are some who believe Final Fantasy Crisis Core will join PS Plus in January, while other have tipped Elden Ring to join the line-up.

In terms of first-party games, the most popular choice is Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, which contains Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy.

Returnal is another game that feels tailor-made for PS Plus, especially if Sony wants to start the year with a bang.

Daily Express will be back with the full list of PlayStation Plus games once Sony makes the announcement on December 27.

We’ll also update the article if the games leak ahead of schedule, which is highly likely based on the recent track record.
