Beyond Paradise Christmas Special exit: Has Jamie Bamber left Beyond Paradise as Archie?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Beyond Paradise.

Beyond Paradise’s Christmas Special got everyone in the festive mood on Christmas Eve and also raised some questions regarding Martha Lloyd’s business partner Archie Hughes.

The Death in Paradise spin-off was last seen earlier this year for its first season, seeing DI Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) and his fiance Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) enjoying life in Shipton Abbott.

Following a heartbreaking miscarriage, Humphrey and Martha seemed to be drifting apart with her ex-boyfriend Archie Hughes (Jamie Bamber) clearly still in love with her.

He even became a business partner in Martha’s cafe so it looked like he could cause a lot of trouble for the once loved-up pair.

Archie did make a move on Martha in the season one finale, leaning in for a kiss, but thankfully, she made it very clear it wasn’t going to happen, slapping him across the face for even trying.

Has Jamie Bamber left Beyond Paradise as Archie Hughes?

The Beyond Paradise Christmas Special saw the majority of the original cast return, except for Bamber as Archie.

He was nowhere to be seen and this was soon explained as it was revealed he was no longer a partner in Martha’s business.

This is most likely because things became very awkward between the ex-lovers as she turned him down in the series one finale.

With no appearance in the Christmas Special and as he no longer works with Martha, it is believed Archie is no more in Beyond Paradise.

Actor Bamber has also been busy working on other projects since the BBC drama.

He featured in the series Treyder as Justin Lee, Harry King in Cannes Confidential and plays DI Jim Armstrong in Netflix’s crime series Who is Erin Carter?.

According to his IMDb page, the 50-year-old actor is also going to star in something called Heavyweight which is currently in production.

So, for now at least, it doesn’t look like Archie will be seen in Shipton Abbott anytime soon.

But the show will go on, even without Bamber popping up as Martha’s meddling ex-boyfriend.

Beyond Paradise has already been given the green light for a second season by the BBC.

An official release date hasn’t been announced just yet, although it is expected to come back in early 2024.

Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
