For houseplant lovers, the chances are that they have an orchid at home because it’s a really popular indoor plant.
The orchid doesn’t need a lot of attention, but with the right care, it can bloom for a long time, just as one owner has found.
Taking to the Gardening UK Facebook page, one woman showed off her orchid houseplant that she has managed to keep blooming for four years.
In the picture Katherine Stone shared, the orchid appeared to be packed full of white blooms with its leaves and roots looking very healthy.
Katherine said: “This is my beautiful orchid. I’ve had it so long and it’s kept flowering after four years.”

Group members in the comments section were eager to know Katherine’s secret for keeping her orchid flowering for so long.
Laura Crooks asked: “That’s gorgeous, how do you keep it so happy? Mine is looking a bit droopy. I spray the roots every day but they still look a bit dried up. Any tips?”
Katrine responded: “It may be because of where you’re keeping your orchid. I keep mine in the living room. I find it’s the best place because it’s got more indirect light in this room.”
Pam Roberts replied: “I keep mine in the conservatory because I heard that orchids love light and there’s so many windows here.
“I have lots and the oldest is 15 years old and still flowering, love them.”
Chris Waters also claimed to keep his orchid in the conservatory and had found success in doing so.
He said: “This has been flowering as it is since May. I’ve currently got four on this sill – the rest are in the conservatory on top of a bookshelf.”
Orchid experts at Love Orchids have also shared the best place to keep these popular houseplants.
They said: “Be sure to place them in the sunniest room in your home with the most windows.
“Remember to not place your orchid on any window sills that would put your plant in too much direct light, perhaps choose an east-facing window for optimal lighting.”
