BBC Strictly's Layton Williams begs trolls 'leave me alone'

Layton Williams has been forced to take on social media trolls yet again after one accused the West End star of “complaining” that he did not win Strictly Come Dancing.

The troll had sent him a direct message on Instagram, saying: “Why are you all over social media and the press complaining that you didn’t win?”

The 29-year-old competed in the Strictly final last weekend but was pipped to the post by Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach and her partner Vito Coppola.

Layton shared the interaction in view of his 233,000 Instagram followers, hitting back: “Oh f*** off…And to anyone else who is still mad literally just leave me alone.”

Over on X (Twitter), Layton was also faced with cruel messages after he discussed going “back to normal” now the dance competition is over.

A user responded with: “Oh f**k off,” to which Layton clapped back: “Funnily enough no one has dared try me to my face. Coz your cowards hiding behind your phone. I’d low key respect it if you did but you’d get a good clap back. Shows done now I have time lol.” (sic)

The Bad Education star received a wave of criticism during his time on Strictly, with them often targeting his West End background.

As a result, his loved ones were quick to jump to his defence, particularly his professional partner Nikita Kuzmin.

Appearing on This Morning last month, Nikita told hosts Rochelle Humes and Craig Doyle: “We get a bit defensive of our partners and just to see sometimes people speaking things or saying things they shouldn’t be saying.

“Sometimes things also get to him, and that’s a personal side, I find it sad and unnecessary [the trolling]. At the end of the day, we just want to make people happy, we just want to put on a show.”

Luckily for fans, Layton and Nikita’s Strictly journey is not over yet as they will be embarking on the Strictly Live Tour in the new year.

Kicking off in January, Layton will join the likes of Ellie Leach, Bobby Brazier, Annabel Croft and Angela Rippon as they travel across the UK to cities including Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool and London.

Janette Manrara will be the host as Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke return to the judging panel.
