Gynaecologist 'mutilated his virgin wife's vagina with scissors because he was unable to have sex with her on their honeymoon'

  • The 54-year-old medic is facing trial in Germany

A gynaecologist accused of mutilating his virgin wife’s vagina after he was unable to have sex with her on their honeymoon is facing trial in Germany.

The medic, 54, and his 35-year-old wife had only recently married before travelling to a luxury hotel in Dubai in April, 2019.

But once in the hotel room, he failed to have sex with her, and in a furious rage allegedly blamed her and decided to ‘operate’ to solve the problem himself.

He allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and pierced his terrified wife’s hymen and cut part of it away.

Braunschweig district court in Lower Saxony, Germany, was told his wife had kept the savage attack a secret because her husband had threatened to divorce her, and because of the risk of being ostracised by their families.

The gynaecologist and his wife both come from migrant families but were born in Germany.

She told the police that she then continued to keep it a secret for four years before finally deciding to reveal details of the horrific attack to the police.

Prosecutors have charged the medic with mutilation of female genitalia and grievous bodily harm.

The trial is set to begin on November 6.

It comes as a woman was found guilty of assisting the female genital mutilation of a three-year-old British girl during a trip to Kenya, becoming the first person to be convicted in England of committing the crime overseas.

In a landmark case Amina Noor, 39, was convicted by jurors at the Old Bailey yesterday morning of aiding the horrific procedure during a trip to the African country in 2006.

The judgement has been hailed by prosecutors, who said the case ‘will hopefully encourage potential victims and survivors of FGM to come forward, safe in the knowledge that they are supported’.

The court heard that Noor had taken the little girl to a ‘clinic’ via tuk-tuk where she was asked to wait outside a private house as the child was mutilated.

Her crime only came to light years later in November 2018 when the victim, then 16, told her English teacher what had happened.
