See ‘The Crown’ recreate Princess Diana’s historic landmine walk

The sixth and final season of “The Crown” will include a portrayal of Princess Diana’s historic landmine walk in Africa.

Netflix released images Wednesday of actress Elizabeth Debicki as the Princess of Wales, embarking on the famous moment when Diana walked across a minefield in Huambo, central Angola.

Diana made the trip — just months before her death — to meet with landmine survivors to raise awareness of the work being done to clear landmines worldwide.

It was one of her last and most notable acts of service in her lifetime. The Princess died tragically on August 31, 1997.

In the new photos, Debicki wears a nearly-exact replica of Diana’s gold earrings, swept blonde hair, protective face mask, and a white collared shirt.

The pictures have appeared as “The Crown” creator Peter Morgan addressea the rumors about whether Diana’s ghost will actually appear to Charles in the show finale.

“I never imagined it as Diana’s ‘ghost’ in the traditional sense,” Morgan said. “It was her continuing to live vividly in the minds of those she has left behind.”

“Diana was unique, and I suppose that’s what inspired me to find a unique way of representing her. She deserved special treatment narratively,” he added.

Morgan also revealed that he has not read one line of Prince Harry’s memoir “Spare.”

Season 6 of “The Crown” will premiere on Netflix in two parts. Episodes 1-4 will drop Nov. 16, while fans will have to wait until Dec. 14 for episodes 5-10.
