Footage of Meghan Markle’s first-ever acting gig has resurfaced almost 30 years after the show came to an end.
Before landing success as Rachel Zane on the Netflix drama Suits and becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Markle starred as a student on the US sitcom Married with Children.
In a viral screenshot of the 1995 episode, The Undergraduate, a young Markle can be seen in the background of a scene starring Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy.
Markle got her first taste of acting thanks to her estranged father, Thomas Markle who worked behind the scenes of the show.
In a 2019 interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Al Bundy’s Ed O’Neill highlighted Markle’s surprising connection to the show.

As he told the host: “By the way, she [Meghan] grew up on the set of Married With Children. Did you know that? Her father was a camera operator.”
Thomas enjoyed a long career in production, having worked on 10 of the 11 seasons.
He started off as a lighting director for the first season and then moved up to director of photography from the second season to the 10th.
Ed continued: “She used to come on the set in a little Catholic school uniform. She was like nine.”
Markle had previously spoken about her “growing up” behind the scenes of Married with Children.
In 2018 she told Esquire Magazine: “My dad was a lighting director and director of photography for Married With Children. He just retired actually last year.
“Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married With Children, which is a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up.”
She added: “There were a lot of times my dad would say, ‘Meg, why don’t you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes.’”
As the former actress wasn’t allowed to watch the show at home, she admitted: “I could watch the end credits so I could give the screen a kiss when I saw my dad’s name go by.”
Before landing her major role as the star paralegal, Markle enjoyed a number of smaller TV roles including General Hospital where her father also worked in production.
She also had small guest roles on Century City, The War at Home, and CSI: NY before being famously cast as a briefcase model on gameshow, Deal or No Deal.
