Hillary Clinton said it was a ‘terrible moment’ for America Monday night as another indictment was issued against former President Donald Trump.
Trump’s 2016 rival was appearing on MSNBC alongside Rachel Maddow when news broke that the Fulton County district attorney’s office had handed down another lengthy set of charges against Trump and some of his compatriots for some of their actions pertaining to the 2020 election.
Though though former Secretary of State appeared visibly giddy as news broke, she went on to say that this is nothing but a moment of ‘profound sadness that we have a former president who has been indicted for so many charges that went right to the heart of whether or not our democracy would survive.’
‘He set out to defraud the United States of America and the citizens of our nation,’ she said.
Clinton added that she would ‘wait to see what the indictments themselves say,’ but ‘I don’t know that anybody should be satisfied. This is a terrible moment for our country to have a former president accused of these terribly important crimes.’
‘The only satisfaction may be that the system is working,’ she said.

Donald Trump and 18 other people were charged by Georgia officials on Monday
Fani Willis, the district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia, announced charges Monday night. The grand jury was investigating the efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state where Joe Biden narrowly beat Donald Trump.
Trump already faces prosecution in Manhattan on state charges of campaign finance violations in connection with hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
He also faces federal charges in connection to the handling of classified documents and a separate case related to trying to obstruct the 2020 election.
On Monday evening his campaign described Willis as ‘a rabid partisan’ and accused her of timing the prosecution to damage his presidential campaign.
In the morning Trump argued he did not tamper with the election and that he would ‘be happy’ to talk to the grand jury that has been meeting this week in Fulton County.
‘Would someone tell the Fulton County grand jury that I did not tamper with the election,’ he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
