Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle appeared to disagree with the stewards as he defended Hamilton. The ex-McLaren driver said: ”I think that’s harsh.”
Before Hamilton was penalised, Brundle suggested that race organisers should not be issuing sanctions to either driver. He added: “There’s nothing to look at really there. You have to call that a racing incident surely.”
Brundle continued to question the decision after the chequered flag, adding: “What is racing? If that’s not racing, I don’t know.” Meanwhile, Perez later pointed the blame firmly at Hamilton’s door.
He commented: “Lewis just crashed into me and took the whole right-hand side of my car off so we basically lost all of the load. Unfortunately that meant no points today.”
