Mets-Red Sox game suspended after torrential rain, to be resumed Saturday

BOSTON — Daniel Vogelbach’s two-run homer gave the Mets a fourth-inning lead against the Red Sox on Friday, but all momentum was about to halt.

After Kodai Senga recorded an out in the bottom of the inning, the game was stopped because of heavy rain.

Nearly two hours later, the game was suspended.

Friday’s game will resume at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday with the Mets ahead 4-3 in the fourth.

The regularly scheduled game, initially slated for 4:10 p.m., has been pushed to 7:10 p.m., allowing for separate admissions at Fenway Park.

Senga fell into a 3-0 hole in the second inning on Yu Chang’s two-run double, but the Mets rallied in the third.

Brett Baty doubled leading off the inning and Brandon Nimmo stroked a two-run homer.

After Senga worked a perfect third, Jeff McNeil doubled against Kutter Crawford to begin the fourth and Vogelbach’s blast gave the Mets a 4-3 lead.
