Gogglebox returned to Channel 4 on Friday and fans were excited to see what shows the families would be enjoying.
However, they could not help but express their disappointment when they realised it was a ‘Best Bits’ episode.
The instalment opened with the narrator explaining how so much had happened this year, prompting fans to realise it must be the end of the series.
They took to Twitter to express their sadness, with Alex said: “Oh what…best bits WHY!?!? #Gogglebox.”
Siobhan K said: “The crushing disappointment of a ‘best of’ #gogglebox.”

The Goggleboxers had sat down to watch Married At First Sight and Starstruck as Channel 4 advertised the episode as: “The best moments and best TV shows of the latest series.”
Next week’s instalment will be a celebrity special, which will air at a later time of 10pm.
Channel 4 teased: “Some of the nation’s top personalities turn their hand to being the country’s most opinionated viewers as they critique the week’s TV.
“Giving their view on the most talked about television of the week are Davina McCall with her partner Michael Douglas, Katherine Ryan and her husband Bobby, Rob Beckett and Tom Allen, Tom Grennan and his dad Martin, naturalist Chris Packham with his step-daughter Megan.”
Other celebrity guests include Big Zuu, Hyder and Tubsey, Paul Sinha and husband Olly, Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv, Shaun Ryder and Bez, Martin and Roman Kemp, and married couple Clare Balding and Alice Arnold.
Jane McDonald also sent fans into a frenzy when she announced she would be taking part in the series with her friend, Sue.
She had said on Twitter: “I’m going to be appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox with my best friend Sue – it’s going to be an absolute blast!
“We’ve shared some unforgettable moments over the years but I am really looking forward to spending time together on this wonderful show.”
Gogglebox returns to Channel 4 on Friday at 10pm.
