ITV reporter Emily Morgan dies

Emily Morgan, 45, died following a short battle with lung cancer earlier today.

The ITV News Health and Science Editor had worked for the network for 23 years.

The editor of ITV Network News Andrew Dagnell shared the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our remarkable colleague, Emily Morgan.

“Emily was not only an incredibly talented journalist, but a much-loved member of the ITV Newsroom and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.”

He added that she played “a pivotal role in shaping our coverage through some of the most important stories of our time.”

Emily covered several stories during the pandemic with hospital visits and interviews with frontline healthcare workers.

Andrew added that her “passion” for news was “a constant reminder of why journalism matters” and that she would “continue to inspire”.

The editor ended the statement that “her friendship, her professionalism and her enormous contribution to our industry and to the public conversation will not be forgotten.”

Chris Ship, the broadcaster’s royal editor also tweeted in memory of his friend.

“She was such a beautiful person and a dear friend,” he shared.
