“Things aren’t going to change overnight but we better get there quickly. We’ve got a game coming at the weekend and other games to come.”
However, Lampard dismissed claims that his players simply do not care. He continued: “The passive nature of our game, you can attribute to many things. I think that’s the easy go-to, that they don’t care enough. The players certainly care.
“But when you are low on confidence, there’s a level of performance you need to do at Chelsea. You can be low on confidence but still show a dynamic side to your game. Not necessarily as individuals but as a collective – you’re making contact on the ball, they’re good players but you’re making them feel hurried. We didn’t. They were all things we spoke about before the game.
“At the minute, we’re a team who are pretty conditioned. That makes us really nice to play against.”
