Kate showed 'relief and delight' when asked about Princess Lilibet, expert claims

Kate Middleton and First Lady Dr Jill Biden led a roundtable discussion with a number of representatives from the early years’ sector back in 2021. This was during a visit to Connor Downs Academy during the G7 summit in Cornwall. The Princess of Wales was asked a very personal question about her new niece at the time, Princess Lilibet.

Her response was: “Oh, I wish her all the very best. I can’t wait to meet her because we haven’t yet, met her yet, so hopefully that will be soon.”

Kate was then asked the follow-up question: “Have you FaceTimed her yet?” To which the Princess answered: “No, I haven’t. No.”

Judi James, a professional body language expert, spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to explain how Kate handled the potentially awkward question.

She claimed: “Kate looks awkward and wary about being suddenly asked a question, but interestingly not that question.

“Her body language implies a sense of relief once she hears she is being asked about the new royal baby.”

Judi argued that Kate showed “tension” after her name was called, which is a rare sight for the Princess who has likely had intense media training.

She added: “She seems to be engrossed in the papers in front of her when her name is called.

“When she looks up there is tension showing in her mouth shape just prior to the moment when she remembers to flash her signature pitch-perfect royal smile.

“This suggests the kind of empathy that a mother of three might tend to have,” the body language said.

“She claps her hands together in a clasp to emphasise the idea of excitement at the prospect.

“This turned what could have been a difficult moment, given what we now know was happening behind the scenes, into a happy-looking one.”

Princess Lilibet, who lives with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Prince Archie, will celebrate her second birthday this June in Montecito.
