Tesco and Iceland recall popular frozen product as some packs may contain 'incorrect' food

Birds Eye issued an urgent food warning and recalled its Aunt Bessie’s Crispy Whole Onion Rings due to undeclared egg and milk. Some of its packs could contain an “incorrect product” which has both egg and milk due to a “manufacturing error”, the company explained. The onion rings are sold in some of the biggest UK supermarkets including Tesco, Iceland, and Ocado.

The Birds Eye onion rings are “a possible health risk” for those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or eggs.

The company has recalled the item, contacted the main allergy organisations, and released recall notices telling shoppers what to do if they have the product at home.

Those who have purchased the frozen onion rings and have an allergy or intolerance, should “cut the packaging which shows the batch code and post this and your contact details to the address as shown on the attached notice for a full refund,” the Food Standards Agency said.

The FSA warned customers to “not eat it” and advised them to contact www.birdseye.co.uk/contact-us for further information.
