Bruno Saltor has been placed in temporary charge of Chelsea as they seek a replacement for Potter.

Chelsea legend Terry spent the vast majority of his playing career at Stamford Bridge, making over 700 appearances for the club.

Terry is currently working for Chelsea on a part-time basis as a coaching consultant.

The 42-year-old says he is enjoying being able to pass down his knowledge to the club’s youngsters.

He said: ‘I love my role at the minute. I’ve got a bit of work where I’m working with the younger players.

‘And I think as well, because I’ve been part of that process as a kid myself, I’m passing on a load of knowledge to them so I’m having conversations and stuff, which I love.

‘But I enjoy my golf as well. So I want to play a bit of golf and family time as well.’

Terry said he chose to leave his coaching job at Aston Villa because of family reasons

Terry finished his playing career at Aston Villa and was an assistant coach at the club from October 2018 until January 2021.

Commenting on his decision to leave Villa, Terry stated that it was for family reasons.

He said: ‘The reason I left [Aston Villa], I’ve not really said, but was a family reason.

‘I had to kind of come back home and be with my family and stuff, just to kind of support them.’

Terry says that he decided against management and added that some of the coaches at Villa, such as Craig Shakespeare and Richard O’Kelly, were better than him.

He said: ‘I always see myself as a coach in the long term.

‘I enjoyed the coaching side of it but I have to say there were better coaches than me.

‘We had Craig Shakespeare and Richard O’Kelly at Villa, they were better coaches than me.

‘I always saw myself as a manager, but I went for a couple of jobs when I left [Villa], didn’t get those jobs and got a bit deflated with it.

‘So I’ve just decided against it.’
