CSI: Vegas season 2 won't air next week as CBS announces brief hiatus

As the recent episode of CBS’ hit procedural drama CSI: Vegas left fans in tears, many are looking forward to seeing what else is in store for season two. However, viewers will be forced to wait for episode 18, as the show will go on a brief hiatus.

Although CSI: Vegas has just returned from a lengthy delay, CBS has confirmed the drama will take another break.

While this could be met with annoyance from fans, they can rest assured this hiatus will be much shorter than the last and only last two weeks.

Bosses have remained tight-lipped about the upcoming episode, titled Fractured, as they have yet to release a synopsis or a promo clip.

Despite this, fans can be certain the skilled team of forensic investigators will be met with major new challenges.

While CBS have yet to release a reason for the hiatus, the network may want to spread out as many episodes as possible until the season finale.

A majority of shows also add breaks throughout a season to keep the ratings high as a huge number of viewers will tune into a return episode.

A high viewership and steady ratings ensure the drama could be renewed for another season as it proves to networks there’s a demand for the show.

Thankfully for fans, CSI: Vegas will return to screens with season three as it was recently renewed after two successful seasons.

While the future of many shows remains uncertain, CSI: Vegas was on the long list of CBS dramas to be renewed.

It was among the likes of NCIS and its hit spin-off, NCIS: Hawaii.

Although season three will likely premiere in 2024, fans will soon be forced to bid adieu to season two, which officially ends on Wednesday, May 18.

As viewers draw closer to the finale, showrunner Jason Tracey teased the episodes “couldn’t be more personal” for Joshua Folsom (played by Matt Lauria).

While CSI: Vegas usually focus on thrilling and gruesome cases, fans could gain insight into the investigator’s upbringing.

Jason revealed: “We’ve got some cases, we’ve got another little arc coming to do within this season.

“We’ve seen how difficult it is for Folsom, who grew up in Vegas around some very rough stuff, and he’s got some challenging family members and that’s going to come to the fore.”

Speaking to TV Insider, he added: “We do have plenty of big cases of the week, but we also have the rumbles of and a ramp-up to a very personal finale and I think it might be time to focus on Folsom.”
