The Tesco superfan who got his clubcard tattooed on his wrist has only saved £18 worth of points.

Dean Mayhew, 31, said he got the QR code permanently inked on his arm because he would keep forgetting it.

It’s been eight months since he went public with the tattoo and he still has ‘no regrets’.

The dad-of-three uses the tat twice a day and sends photos to his friends so they can use it too.

He hopes by the end of the year he will have saved enough to cover the cost of his Christmas food shop.

The scaffolder, from Bideford, Devon, said: ‘I still use it all the time. I love the tattoo so much.

‘Sometimes when I go in there, the cashier doesn’t believe it’s real – I have to tell them “just scan it please!” and they’re shocked.

‘Everything’s going up in price so I’m always making sure I get it scanned now.

‘With the points, I’m going to save them up and save towards the cost of Christmas.’

When Dean first got the tattoo he headed straight to his local Tesco Express to try it out.

He even had his arm hair specially trimmed so the QR code would work on the tills.

‘Sometimes for presents, in the toy section things will be half the price when you get a Clubcard discount,’ he added.

‘I’ve also done in the past where I’ve gone to Tesco and done a big shop, and the points I saved up would take it down by half.

‘It will help out a lot, especially this year, with everything going up in price.

‘I definitely don’t regret getting the tattoo.’

His aspirations don’t stop there as Dean now plans to get a tattoo of his Nectar card for when he shops at Sainsbury’s.

He said: ‘I could use the one on my phone but I want to use the one on my arm as it’s funny.’
