The five-time Emmy winner – turning 76 next month – gushed to Access Hollywood on Wednesday: ‘Still processing it, because most songs written about me begin “Hey dumba**!” So this was an unusual experience.’
David giddily reunited with the 62-year-old Irishman and the British-born, Irish-raised 61-year-old while coordinating in black and grey formal attire at the movie’s premiere at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
Bono (born Paul David Hewson) wore his signature shades due to glaucoma while The Edge (born David Howell Evans) wore his signature black beanie for the film festivities.
Letterman called the 22-time Grammy winners ‘decent, well-rounded nice people’ and said it was ‘a delight’ to visit their Dublin hometown for the film.

Oscar-winning documentarian Morgan Neville’s film Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman premieres March 17 on Disney+.
In it, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers – who’ve sold 170M records worldwide – reflect on their 47-year journey as musicians and friends while also performing a concert.
U2 – also featuring bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. – will next release Songs of Surrender, an album of 40 re-recorded and reinterpreted songs from the group’s back catalogue, which hits shelves March 17.
In the autumn, the entire band (minus Mullen) will perform a limited Las Vegas engagement of concerts called U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere in honor of the grand opening of MSG Sphere at The Venetian.
Also attending the premiere on Wednesday was Oscar-winning documentarian Morgan Neville, who directed A Sort of Homecoming.
